Curriculum
Development
In my role as Curriculum Director at E.A. Young Academy, I revitalized the school's QUEST program for grades K-8 by establishing a framework, developing standards aligned with those of the National Association for Gifted Children, and curating age-appropriate activities which promote an understanding of self and the world, critical thinking, and research skills.
02
Professional
Development
Whether in a small group, a conference breakout session, or through a video platform, I seek to engage my audiences in learning through playful experimentation, discussion, and collaboration with peers to expand upon shared ideas.
03
Project-Based
Learning
As a classroom teacher, I merged Project-Based Learning with more traditional skill practice so learners can engage with content in a variety of modalities. Trimester-long projects are always shared with an audience to add another level of purpose to the process.
04
Social-Emotional
Learning
Recently, I teamed with a colleague to develop a presentation on the benefits of cooperative games as a means for developing prosocial behaviors in the classroom and beyond. After observing students during several gaming sessions, we compiled a list of games, identified academic connections along with prosocial behaviors addressed, and created question sets for teachers to debrief the gaming experience with their classes.
05
Fostering Connection
As the classroom changed from a physical to a digital space in 2020, I sought to remind my students that they were not alone as they faced new challenges and many unknowns.

Event
Coordination
& Design
In my role as Event Coordinator for Sundance Swing Out, I hosted dancers, instructors, and bands from around the country for a weekend of swing dancing. I managed teams, registrations, and the budget while ensuring guests felt a sense of warmth and hospitality during their time in Fort Worth.

Continuous
Learning
I love to know the "whys" associated with the work I undertake. Inevitably, the "whys" lead to learning and innovation sessions aiming to improve a system or product. My most recent learning endeavor landed me in the world of UI/UX design. In one of my foundational courses, I learned the process of site mapping and wireframing and applied it to my idea for an adaptive spelling practice app that automatically collects words from those which are repeatedly autocorrected.
